Overwatch 2 Season 4 Meta Expectations

Overwatch 2 Season 3 is slowly and steadily coming to an end, and with it, players have started preparing for Season 4. As shared in some of our articles, we expect to see a new hero, as well as many ot her changes. Of course, we must wait until the new update becomes available to see if Blizzard will live up to their promises.

Although we’re not sure what will change, following the announcement from a few days ago, we have an overall idea of what to expect. Knowing which Overwatch 2 heroes to pick will help you shine early on in the season because others won’t know what to expect. So, here are a couple of heroes that should be pretty good once Overwatch 2 Season 4 arrives.

Zenyatta

Albeit one of the more popular heroes among the best Overwatch 2 players, Zenyatta isn’t that big among inexperienced Overwatch 2 fans. Truth be told, this is among the hardest supports in the game to master. He is squishy, has no defensive or movement speed abilities, and is not that fast. This makes him ideal for flankers.

In order to make the hero slightly more difficult to kill, Blizzard buffed his physical damage with the kick. This, combined with the fact that he’s incredibly strong in the 5v5 meta, makes us think we’ll see a lot more from him in Overwatch 2 Season 4.

Besides dealing insane amounts of damage, Zenyatta is a hero that shines in the Overwatch 2 tanks vs tank matchups. Thanks to his orb, the enemy tanks have to be really careful because they can die in a matter of seconds.

Lastly, when talking about Zenyatta in Overwatch 2, we must remember that the hero also has an amazing ultimate. Regardless of the match or the meta (unless Blizzard changes it), Zen’s ult is always among the best in the game because it can save his team.

D.Va

Overwatch 2 season 3

The current meta in Overwatch 2 favors a couple of tanks, but it’s safe to say that Rein dominates most games. Although we expect to keep seeing him in the game, D.Va might take his role and become the leading Overwatch 2 tank once Season 4 gets here.

Despite the fact that the hero hasn’t received anything big yet, she’s always been one of the best in the game. Besides being incredibly tanky, D.Va also has one of the highest damage outputs in the game. Furthermore, she’s capable of making some abilities feel useless, thanks to her Defense Matrix.

We also have to remember that D.Va is capable of chasing her enemies and pressuring heroes, such as Widowmaker. Many people often don’t take this into account, but it is one of the big reasons why D.Va has been so successful over the years.

An important thing about the Overwatch 2 meta is that D.Va can work in pretty much every setup. Sure, she’s not that good against Echo, but she can work against some of the most annoying setups, including the Pharah and Mercy setup.

Hanzo

How to Play Hanzo

It is no surprise that Hanzo is not the hottest option in the current Overwatch 2 meta. Despite his ability to one-shot targets, most people do not pick him unless they decide to use the double sniper draft with Widowmaker.

We’ve mentioned in some of our other Overwatch 2 articles how Hanzo is in a weird spot right now. In fact, there were rumors that Blizzard would change some of his abilities to make him stronger in the current meta. Considering his current state, we wouldn’t be surprised if these changes take place in Season 4.

Hanzo is definitely not a hero that you can pick up right away. He requires a lot of practice, but those who know how to use him can dominate the Competitive Play meta and reach their desired rank.

Mei

The next hero on the list that we expect to see a lot from in the upcoming Overwatch 2 Season 4 is Mei. Even though she hasn’t been popular in Overwatch 2 at all, the hero should receive significant changes and become the go-to option.

One of the reasons why Mei will be really good is because of the fact that she can deal with the enemy tank. As you know, this hero relies on her close-range damage output, but she can also heal herself. This makes her incredibly effective against most tanks because she will force them to play more defensively.

Final Thoughts

In addition to the heroes mentioned so far, Overwatch 2 Season 4 will probably allow us to play some of the heroes that have been around for a long time. Sojourn, for example, will be one of the names we’ll see a lot because of her incredible mobility and damage output. Although the hero got tons of nerfs in the last few months, she remains a solid DPS alternative.

Sigma and Wrecking Ball are also two tanks that we will definitely see in action once Season 4 arrives. Sigma enables some DPS to do even more damage, whereas Ball is the best hero for the dive combos. As mentioned, those kinds of setups will continue to shine in the game, meaning Wrecking Ball will probably become even more popular.
