Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.38 – 24-hour Server Maintenance And Minor Updates

Final Fantasy XIV's next patch, Patch 6.38 will come shortly and brings a slew of adjustments and minor changes after a day-long maintenance.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.38 will be released on April 3, 2023, and will shut operations down until the following day. The reasons for the shutdown are a hardware update for the North American Data Centres.

Those hardware updates or replacements are needed to ensure the future of Final Fantasy XIV, with the new expansion being expected to release in 2024. The North American Data Centres will also see another upgrade to their server capacity later this year.

The Maintenence is expected to finish within the following timeframe, you can find more details here:

From Monday, 3 April 2023 at 10:00 (GMT) / 11:00 (BST) / 20:00 (AEST)
to Tuesday, 4 April 2023 at 10:00 (GMT) / 11:00 (BST) / 20:00 (AEST)

This maintenance will affect all of FFXIV's Data Centres and you can expect similar expansions to the European and Japanese Data Centres in the near future. They are both also scheduled to increase their server capacity later this year and sometimes beyond that.

But that's not all! We also have some regular updates.

Releasing on April 4, 2023, this new patch will start the next season of Crystalline Conflict, Season Six. The season will last till the release of Patch 6.4 and lets players compete once again for rankings in Endwalker's newly introduced small-scale PvP mode.

FFXIV's next patch will also lift all the weekly restrictions on Pandaemonium: Abyssos (Savage). This means you can now farm the current best in slot gear from the 6.3 raid tier to your heart's content. And with Echo enabled, getting a clear now or gearing up for 6.4 should be a little easier.

With this next patch, there'll also be a few adjustments to the PvP actions. The director and producer Naoki Yoshida have not commented on this yet, probably because the team is still adjusting the numbers. The exact changes to the balance will be available once the patch goes live.

This was of course not everything from the recent Live Letter. After a short visit from the current and soon-to-be president of Square Enix, who turns out to be a Final Fantasy XIV player himself. Yoshida then went on to show us what the future of FFXIV will look like.
