All 20+ Fortnite Live Events and the Next Big Experience

This is everything you need to know about the Fortntie live events, past events and when the next one is coming.

Fortnite’s grown past just being a Battle Royale. It’s the home of an entire games’ platform with Unreal for FN, a huge esports community with tournaments, and beyond that Epic Games is pretty keen to call itself a Metaverse. It’s the Fortnite live events that really got it to this stage and made the game so much more than a Battle Royale.

These live events are huge in the Fortnite calendar. In the past, we’ve had events like live concerts, a giant mech and Kaiju fight, even one that culminated in thousands of people staring at a static image of a black hole for days on end. Although, when to expect the next Fortnite live event is always tricky.

While Epic doesn’t tend to announce stuff unless it’s close to happening, we can make some educated guesses about when the next of the Fortnite live events is hitting. This is what we know about what’s coming and all Fortnite live events held in the past.

What are Fortnite Live Events?

Fortnite Live Events

Fortnite live events are special occasions where the Battle Royale shuts down normal matchmaking. Instead, players are all thrust into a one-off live event.

Once in the lobby, you’ll start in a normal version of Fortnite before something crazy happens. Sometimes it’s just a huge event that you can watch and experience with other players, like seeing two giants fight. Often though, it’s a multi-phase thing where you’re put through various levels of gameplay with cut scenes. Usually, the Fortnite plot is developed here too, but that can be hard to keep track of.

Just like in a Battle Royale, this is done in big numbers. You’re sharing the experience with a hundred of your fellow players, all there on one screen. It adds a lot to the whole thing. On top of that, you’re communicating purely through your emotes and other cosmetics so it’s a great chance to show off if you have one of the rarest Fortnite skins.

When is the Next Fortnite Live Event?

Fortnite Live Events

The next Fortnite event will likely be at the end of Chapter 4. Those end of Chapter finishes has always come with an event. However, it’s possible we’ll get one sooner.

Between end-of-season events and the live concerts, we do get some events outside of Chapter finishes. Lately, they’ve been a bit thinner on the ground though. With Chapter 3 being so short we might get more across Chapter 4 compared to that one.  The past Fortnite live events are a good place to start for an idea of when the next one will come.

All Past Fortnite Live Events

Over the years we’ve had a decent number of live events in Fortnite. These have been a few different types depending on what’s happening in game at any given moment! We’ll divide these by type. These are all of the Fortnite live events we’ve seen in the past.

The Meteor – Season 3 Live Event

Fortnite Live Events

This was our very first live event! It’s almost cute by the standards that they’d grow to. This was an event that saw a comet get bigger and bigger in the sky over the course of a day. Once it got close, it hit Dusty Depot. This turned it into Dusty Divot.

For our first of the Fortnite live events, it established an important precedent for them. Epic likes blowing up your favorite landing spot.

Season 4 – The Rocket Launch

Fortnite Live Events

This was the next major event and it happened right after, with the conclusion of the next Season.

This culminated in a storyline that started with the meteor, as the character who arrives then kicked off a rocket launch. The rocket began to rift around, moving erratically apparently through dimensions. Just before it blew up Tilted, It rifted up causing a Sideways Rift to emerge. This would be the source of an ongoing event for Fortnite, and it introduced Rifts to the game in style!

The Cube – Season 5 Fortnite Live Events

Fortnite Live Events

This might be where a lot of OG Fortnite fans think the events peaked! The Cube was a lot of fun. A giant Purple Cube (Kevin) landed. It didn’t do too much, nothing exploded, but it was great fun following along with the saga.

This wasn’t even an end of season event either, it happened right in the middle of Season 5! The cube then gradually moved around before turning Loot Lake purple. It was a lot more exciting than it sounds.

Floating Island – Season 6 Fortnite Live Events

Fortnite Live Events

The next live event was the floating Island. This happened once Kevin made it all the way to the Loot Lake house. It then lifted it up to be a floating island.  The island travelled around the map, making some baby Kevins as it went.

The Butterfly Event – Fortnite Live Events

Halfway through that same season, Kevin got angry. It started draining its energy back from the island, creating whirlpools and more. Eventually everyone transport to a rift area with a butterfly, before returning to a changed island.

Season 7 – The Ice Storm

Season X – The End

Fortnite Live Events

This is probably the most iconic of the Fortnite live events. It saw some elements form all past events get involved, to fully send off the first Chapter of the game! It ended with a black hole that continued for literal days.

Chapter 2 Season 1 – Fortnite Live Events – Star Wars

Fortnite Live Events

This is the first of the Chapter 2 Fortnite live events. This one is pretty controversial, but not among Fortnite fans. In Fortnite, it was a bit of a nothing. Players gathered in Risky Reels where a prequel message setting up a new Star Wars movie was played along with a few clips.

Outside of the game, it caused some controversy as this was the only explanation Star Wars fans got for the set-up to a whole movie, a Fortnite event.

Chapter 2 Season 2 Fortnite Live Events – Major Lazer

This was another instalment for the Fortnite concerts. This time it took place in Party Royale though.

The Device

Fortnite Live Events

Our next big climatic experience for the Fortnite story was the Device event. Here, Midas activated the titular device. We then got to see Agent Jonsey for the first time and a lot more lore dump.

Chapter 2 Season 3 Live Events

Another concert was held in this season, with Diplo. Along with some live events happening on Creative but no more in the traditional sense.

Chapter 4 Season 4 Live Events – Devourer of Worlds

Fortnite Live Events

This season saw a new Fortnite event take place to finish off the storyline once again. This time it concluded the Marvel crossover Season. Players had to take flight in an armoured battle Bus in a kind of Star Wars Trench Run adventure.

Chapter 2 Season 5 Fortnite Live Events – Zero Point Destabilization

Fortnite Live Events

The ending event for this season was happening for the last few weeks of the season. The Zero Point became unstable and began to spread reality waves. The season ended with a single player event, as you joined Agent Jonsey to fix the Zero Point.

Arianne Grande

This was another concert.

Chapter 2 Season 7 Fortnite Live Events

AliensEventFortniteLiveEevnts

This Chapter had seen aliens descend all over the map. The end-of-season event had to deal with them and set up the next Chapter’s storyline.

Chapter 2 Season 8

Fortnite Live Events

For the last season in Chapter 2, more cubes joined all over the map and a mech was once again brought out to fight.

Chapter 2 Ending – Fortnite Live Events

Fortnite Live Events

The final live event for this Chapter saw players fighting off the Cube Queen. It results in the map being flipped over entirely, revealing a new map on the opposite side.

Chapter 3 Live Events – Fracture

Fortnite Live Events

The end of Chapter 4 got another big live event. Here the map was ripped to pieces. Players got transported to a new area before finding the current map.

Those are all of the Fortnite live events we’ve had so far! They’ve definitely slowed down a bit recently. We can expect to see more over Fortnite Chapter 4 though!
