Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups – Everything to Know

This is everything you need to know about the Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups and how you can compete.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Cash Cups are just kicking off for the Season, returning for another round in Season 2! While Fortnite has huge competitions like the FNCS, these are pretty unique on the calendar. This is a rare case where players can compete on their own. If you fancy your chances, this is one of the easiest ways to get a shot at Fortnite esports.

The Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups are on a smaller scale than some other events. These are individual competitions, but the cash prize on offer is still a decent amount for a short session of competition.

They’re accessible to pretty much everyone playing. No matter what platform you’re in, you can compete. There are just a few conditions for taking part and they’re pretty much the same as the rest of Fortnite esports. This is how the Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups are going to work and how you can compete.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Cash Cups

The Fortnite competitive calendar for each season is roughly divided into a few events. There’s the FNCS and associated qualifiers. These are the big finals for the end of the Season and have events running throughout to decide which pro teams make it all the way. However, weekly Epic hosts other events. The most common of these are the Cash Cups, regular events held every week through the competitive season.

The Cash Cups are weekly events where players can jump into a single-day tournament. These are individual cups. Each week sees a new one held. There’s no ongoing leaderboard or commitment that you’ll need to make. Players can just jump in. There is still a cash prize though, as the name kind of points out.

Typically, Cash Cups are played in team groups. However, the Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups are only for one player. You can jump in on your own and compete against each other players. This usually makes them less attractive for pro players outside of getting a bit of a grind in and testing their skills out. This is a tournament where you’re playing all by yourself.

If you’re looking at getting involved, the Solo Cash Cups are a great way to do this. It’s a competitive event where players aren’t on teams, there are fewer pros in the mix, and you don’t have to organize with another player who is on the same level as you to compete. It’s rare to get chances to play Solos in events and really test yourself against other players. Having a cash prize on offer never hurts either! This is a fun chance to test your skills on your own.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups Format

Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups

The Fortnite Chapter 4 Cash Cups are having a pretty similar format to most of Epic’s more casual events. It’s played over a single day. This is how it all works out and what you need to know about the rules of the event.

The Time Limit

The tournament is limited to 3 hours, but you can only play 10 matches in the Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups. If you make it high in placement every time, this means you won’t be able to fit in all 10 games. Although, if you drop out early enough times, you might have time to spare while everyone else continues collecting points.

Since Chapter 4 Season 2, Epic has adjusted the timing for games. Now, if too many players die too quickly the round lengths are going to speed up. This could mean you can speedrun games and grab a Victory Royale without eating a big chunk of your tournament time. Although, getting that done is basically unpredictable since you can’t control how many players die and when. Epic only seems to have instituted it to combat so many dying off spawn in Mega City each game. Despite the changes, it’s best to view the time limit as not long enough for all games. If you place high every time, it isn’t.

That doesn’t mean it’s worthless to focus on placement over kills though. There are still benefits to ranking high. For a start, there’s an instant prize for winning.

Each victory is worth an instant $100. A victory Royale gives an immediate cash prize, no waiting to see how you fare. Obviously, it’s worth carrying on playing though. Getting a Victory Royale puts you in a decent position for the rest of the tournament.

Format

The format of the Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups is Solos, so you jump in on your own and nobody is on any teams. The game is played with the Arena playlist. This means that the lootpool is different from casual play.

This season, there isn’t a huge difference in competitive playlists to pubs. The OP rotation tools and Mythics are still there. You’ll find the Mythic Shotgun in the new vaults, along with the Pulse Rifle. It is a bit different, though. You’ll need to have enough experience in Arena mode to get through it though. Fortnite tournaments are intended for those who have already grinded in Arena for a while, so the loot differences shouldn’t be too big of a surprise.

Prizes and Rules

The Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups use the same rules and point-scoring system as the rest of the Cash Cups. If you’re not familiar with them, though, there are some quirks to the scoring to keep in mind. There’s an emphasis on placement here over kills in scoring. However, kills are a much quicker way to get points than waiting through a game for placement. This is how it all breaks down.

  • Victory Royale – 55 Points
  • 2nd – 46 Points
  • 3rd – 42 Points
  • 4th – 38 Points
  • 5th – 34 Points
  • 6th – 30 Points
  • 7th – 28 Points
  • 8th – 26 Points
  • 9th – 24 Points
  • 10th – 22 Points
  • 11th – 20 Points
  • 12th – 18 Points
  • 13th – 16 points

These Fortnite Chapter 4 Solo Cash Cups set-ups are closer to placements mattering than elims. Players aren’t going to be able to rack up that many points through kills unless they take out half the lobby. Placing in the top 10 is essentially equal to a great game for kills. Although, it may take a lot longer if players are spamming heals in moving circles. This is a strange set of rules, but it should make the tournaments a bit different to some other Battle Royales and they’re more suited to Solos.

At the end of the first session, the top players move into the second session with a fresh batch of tournaments.
