CDL Major 3 Qualifiers – Week 1; Day 2 Recap

Here’s all the action from the second day of CDL Major 3 Qualifiers.

The Call of Duty League has returned following an eventful Major 2 in Boston. We start with Major 3 Qualifiers this week, and here’s all the action from the second day of week one. With another four great matches, we saw a new look OpTic Texas, Florida Mutineers and a second showing of the new Boston Breach.

Boston Breach 3-2 London Royal Ravens

An absolute breakdown. That is the only way to describe the events of map one. This Hotel Hardpoint was closed out 250-248 by Boston Breach, and this saw an unbelievable 215-248 comeback to close out the map one in this series. Beans came back from his slow series last night with a massive 26 in this map one, the second-highest on his Boston Breach team.

Following a long delay, we went into a map two Hotel Search and Destroy. Here, the London Royal Ravens looked great. Boston Breach got 6 first bloods in this map, however, London were excellent with their 3v4’s as they closed out this map with a 6-2 victory to tie the series 1-1. Boston Breach regained the lead in this series with a quick 3-0 El Asilo Control victory. This was a well-played map by the entire team, and saw them dominate every single round to take the map 3-0 and take a 2-1 series lead.

The London Royal Ravens took us to a game five with a 250-184 Mercado Hardpoint victory. The Ravens completely outslayed Boston Breach here, with Skrapz and Asim running the show, both putting up 23 kills each for the side of London. Boston Breach came back to close out the series 3-2 and finally win their first game five of the year. This 6-2 Embassy Search and Destroy victory saw Beans drop a massive 10 kills and a 3.33 K/D as he has truly made his mark in the COD League as a rookie.

Atlanta FaZe 3-0 Florida Mutineers

The Florida Mutineers came into this series with a brand new roster seeing Brack put back into the starting lineup, and FeLo and Capsidal joining the roster too. They started this series well. However, the slaying power of Simp and Cellium was too much as Atlanta FaZe took a 250-176 Embassy Hardpoint victory to kick off the series. Atlanta FaZe took a 2-0 lead in this series with a quick and easy 6-1 El Asilo Search and Destroy victory. Slasher dominated this map with a massive 11 kills as he earnt streaks and was the leading force in this victory.

Atlanta FaZe closed out the series with a 3-0 El Asilo Control in possibly the most dominant map of the year. Slasher and aBeZy were running through the Mutineers as they closed out this map extremely quickly and took the series with an easy 3-0.

OpTic Texas 3-1 Los Angeles Guerrillas

OpTic Texas continued on from Atlanta FaZe’s Control dominance with a just as dominant map from themselves, taking a 250-127 Hotel Hardpoint victory to kick off the series and a debut match for Ghosty. JoeDecieves struggled with just 6 kills, while Exceed almost had as many kills as the rest of his teammates combined at 22. Exceed continued to dominate here, putting up 12 kills in map two as the Los Angeles Guerrillas took a 6-4 Mercado Search and Destroy victory. This was a well-played map from the entire team, and saw JoeDecieves back to his normal self.

The Los Angeles Guerrillas took a 2-1 lead in the series through a 3-2 El Asilo Control victory. LAG were dominant in this final round, seeing them take a 25-10 lead in the life count and not allowing OpTic even to get a foot on either of the points. Exceed was once again brilliant, and the Guerrillas look great heading into map four. Another brilliant map from Exceed saw him put up a massive 32 kills, however it wasn't enough to stop OpTic Texas as they forced a map five with a 250-226 Fortress Hardpoint victory. LAG outslayed by 10 kills but it was the teamwork from OpTic Texas that saw them take this map, and an unreal 34 kills from Shotzzy.

Huke was unbelievable in the final map of this series as he put up 14 kills and a 14.00 K/D in this dominant 6-1 El Asilo Search and Destroy. This was an incredible performance from Huke that saw OpTic Texas take the series 3-2.

Seattle Surge 3-0 Minnesota ROKKR

Seattle Surge played Hydro Hardpoint for the first time this season in this series. And it was close, but worth it. Seattle Surge came out on top with a 250-240 victory seeing a great performance from Pred, however it was a slow play from ROKKR on the final hill that allowed them to gain the final points needed, and just one wipe of the team was enough to take the victory.

Seattle Surge finally won their first online Search and Destroy match in 14 games with this Hotel Search and Destroy map two. This was dominant, too, as they took a 6-1 victory seeing Mack drop a massive 10 kills and a 3.33 K/D and Sib also showed up with 8 kills himself. Seattle Surge dominated the final map of this series with a quick 3-0 Fortress Control victory that saw them take the series in a 3-0 sweep. This was a surprising result, but it shows that we may finally be seeing Seattle Surge back to their best.
