CDL Major 3 Qualifiers – Week 2; Day 3 Recap

Here’s all the action from Week 2; Day 3 of CDL Major 3 Qualifiers.

The Call of Duty League has returned following an eventful Major 2 in Boston. We return with more Major 3 Qualifiers this week, and here’s all the action from the final day of week two. With another three great matches, here’s everything that went down tonight.

OpTic Texas 3-0 Minnesota ROKKR

OpTic Texas came out with one of the best performances we've seen all week in this series, dispatching of Minnesota ROKKR in a quick and easy 3-0 sweep. OpTic began the series with a 250-111 Embassy Hardpoint victory in map one. This was an extremely dominant map, and saw OpTic Texas outslay by a massive 23 kills as Shotzzy led the line with 27 kills and a 1.80 K/D.

OpTic Texas continued to dominate with a 6-1 El Asilo Search and Destroy win in map two, with the entire team playing extremely well here. Attach unfortunately suffered in this map on the side of Minnesota ROKKR, unable to get a single kill in the whole game. However, this was tough for ROKKR as it was a perfect showing of Search and Destroy from OpTic Texas. The series was ended in three as OpTic Texas took a 3-2 Fortress Control win, yet again dominating in the kills. Huke topped the leaderboard here with 29 kills as OpTic bounced back from a poor performance earlier this week.

Seattle Surge 3-1 Florida Mutineers

The Florida Mutineers picked up their first series victory last night, and they brought this momentum into this series. The Mutineers took a 250-188 Hotel Hardpoint victory to kick off the series, seeing Capsidal completely dominate as he put up a massive 31 kills. Accuracy struggled on the side of Seattle Surge, only managing 8 kills in this map one. Seattle Surge bounced back and tied the series 1-1 with a 6-2 Hotel Search and Destroy win in map two. However, this most definitely should've been a closer map, and the Mutineers will be disappointed with this loss.

We remained on Hotel for map three of this series, and Seattle Surge took the lead with a 3-2 win in the Control. Accuracy bounced back from his poor performance in map one with 24 kills and a 1.50 K/D to put his team on series point. Seattle Surge closed out the series with a dominant performance on Embassy Hardpoint in map four with a 250-148 victory. This was a great showing out of the Seattle Surge as the entire team worked together, but it was a big 28 kills from Pred and a 1.47 K/D that led the lobby.

London Royal Ravens 3-2 Los Angeles Guerrillas

The Los Angeles Guerrillas HQ lost power earlier today, so this match was moved to be the final of the day as the Guerrillas moved to play at the LA Thieves HQ. The match got underway with a Fortress Hardpoint, and this went the way of the London Royal Ravens with a 250-172 victory. This was a very close map, but the Ravens started to run away with it after Asim went on a streak, but it was Skrapz who dominated for London, ending the map with 29 kills and a 1.45 K/D.

The Los Angeles Guerrillas bounced back with a 6-4 Mercado Search and Destroy victory in map two to tie the series. This map was great, with Exceed pulling off an incredible 1v4 early on in the game to give them all the momentum to close it out. LAG took the lead of the series with a 3-2 Hotel Control win in the third map of the series. Here, Assault and Exceed dominated, putting up 34 and 33 kills, respectively, but this was not as clean as they would have liked.

The London Royal Ravens sent us the distance to a map five with a 250-216 Mercado Hardpoint win in map four. Skrapz was great once again in this Hardpoint as he dropped 25 kills and a 1.39 K/D. In the map five, it was the London Royal Ravens who came out on top with a round 11 6-5 win on El Asilo Search and Destroy. PaulEhx topped the leaderboard with 10 kills, however, this was a well-played all-round game from the entire team.
