LA Thieves vs Seattle Surge Preview and Prediction: CDL 2023 Major 4 Qualifiers

Two longtime rivals go to battle – but who will come out victorious in LA Thieves vs Seattle Surge?

The Call of Duty League returns with Major 4 Qualifiers getting underway this weekend. With three different Major winners so far this year, the League is looking more competitive than ever. But who takes the CDL Points from this historic matchup?

LA Thieves vs Seattle Surge Preview

LA Thieves

The LA Thieves may have had the most up-and-down season out of all 12 Call of Duty League teams so far in 2023. The roster of Kenneth “Kenny” Williams, Sam “Octane” Larew, Zack “Drazah” Jordan and Dylan “Envoy” Hannon appeared to be a force from the start of the season. However, the team only managed a Top 10 placing at Major 1 in Raleigh. Major 2 saw a much better performance from the team as they made it to the Grand Finals of the Boston Major, but they were eventually struck down by Atlanta FaZe. The most recent Major 3 was tough, as the Thieves suffered back to back 3-0 defeats to be sent home early.

This up and down cycle seems to be typical with the LA Thieves, as we saw the exact same thing in the previous Call of Duty: Vanguard season. In Major 4, the Thieves will be looking to return to their form of Major 2, and this match against Seattle Surge could be the perfect game to kick off their run.

Seattle Surge

Seattle Surge has also had a similar story so far in the 2023 Call of Duty League season. The roster of Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi, Duante “Sib” Gray, Amer “Pred” Zulbeari and Makenzie “Mack” Kelley performed incredibly well in Major 1, reaching the Grand Finals. However, they were defeated by the New York Subliners and suffered in Major 2, going 1-4 in their Qualifying matches, and being sent home by the home team Boston Breach in losers round one. Major 3 saw them turn their performances around, going 4-1 in Qualifiers and a lot further in the Major, but they were eventually sent home by the home team once again, this time being OpTic Texas.

Seattle Surge needs to return to form in Major 4. With rumors of Pred joining OpTic earlier in the year, the team is at risk of becoming disjointed, and this could lead to a roster change. However, if they can return to form and start their Major 4 run by taking down the Thieves, they could be a dark horse for a Major 4 victory.

LA Thieves vs Seattle Surge Prediction

The LA Thieves and Seattle Surge have met just twice in the 2023 Call of Duty League season, taking one match each. However, Surge are yet to win a Search and Destroy against LAT, both losses coming in their record-breaking SnD loss streak. However, Seattle Surge do have the upper hand in Hardpoints, with a 3-1 record. The Control will be the all-important mode in this series, we think this one only goes four maps, heading into the Control 1-1, and whoever takes it, takes the series.
