Seattle Surge vs Los Angeles Guerrillas Preview and Predictions: Call of Duty League 2023 Stage 4 Major

Surge couldn’t beat Atlanta FaZe when it mattered the most, but they have a second chance in the Lower Bracket – if they can get through Los Angeles Guerrillas.

The first round of the Upper Bracket of the Call of Duty League Stage 4 Major has ended, with OpTic Texas, New York Subliners, Los Angeles Thieves and Atlanta FaZe getting a step closer to the Grand Final. The Lower Bracket will begin today, with the bottom 4 of the Qualifiers vs the losers of yesterday. Among the teams who got defeated is Seattle Surge, who can still bounce back and make it further into the tournament – but first, they must beat Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson and his team.

Surge finished 4^th in Qualifiers for the Stage 4 Major, so the community had pretty high expectations for Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi and his teammates. They sadly couldn’t live up to their previously acquired position: even though they beat Atlanta FaZe 3-0 in the first half of Stage 4, they only won one map against them in the first round, beating the most famous Call of Duty organization 250-229 in the first hardpoint.

After that, however, it was Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat (or LiddiGOAT, rather) who came in as the saviour for his team. After FaZe won 6-2 in the Hotel Search and Destroy, SlasheR carried his team to a 3-0 Control win through some great high ground plays on El Asilo. After that, the Hydro Hardpoint was a cakewalk for FaZe, as they beat Seattle Surge 250-142, with Accuracy and co. failing to find any answers.

Los Angeles Guerrillas

However, Los Angeles Guerrillas are not doing so hot right now, so Surge has a chance to bounce back. Arcitys and LAG have finished the Stage 4 Qualifiers with a 0-5 scoreline, failing to beat anyone in the first half of Stage 4. The closest they got to a win was against Las Vegas Legion, who beat them 3-2, but other than that, they couldn’t find any success.

2021 CDL Champion and 2022 Runner-Up Arcitys has had a really hard time since joining the Guerrillas: he is the weakest link in some stats, such as Control Kills per 10 Minutes, SnD Overall KD and Hardpoint Engagement per 10 Minutes. Sadly, no other member of LAG could step up so far, so they might not make playoffs this year.

While Seattle Surge have lost against Atlanta FaZe, they are still a very capable team, who have not suffered a defeat from Los Angeles Guerrillas since the 2023 Stage 1 Qualifiers. Since Accuracy and his teammates beat Arcitys and co. 3-2 in the Stage 3 Major, then 3-0 in the Stage 4 Qualifiers, and I believe that they can keep this winstreak going.
