Minnesota RØKKR vs London Royal Ravens Preview and Predictions: Call of Duty League 2023 Stage 4 Major

RØKKR was unable to proceed in the Winner’s Bracket, so Afro must face his former team to stay in the competition.

The Lower Bracket of the Call of Duty League Stage 4 Major is starting today! Boston Breach will face off against Toronto Ultra, Las Vegas Legion tries to keep the dream alive against Florida Mutineers, Seattle Surge wants to erase the mistakes of yesterday against Los Angeles Guerrillas, while Minnesota RØKKR will clash with London Royal Ravens – so it’s really Marcus “Afro” Reid against the team which he almost saved.

Minnesota RØKKR

The Vikings of the Call of Duty League failed their raid yesterday, as they couldn’t upset Los Angeles Thieves. While Afro and his teammates did better against the stronger LA squad than in the Qualifiers (where they lost 0-3 against Kenneth “Kenny” Williams and co.), they still only managed to win 1 map out of the 4 played.

Sadly for RØKKR fans, the three matches LAT won were fairly one sided: the Thieves had beat Minnesota 250-187 on Fortress Hardpoint, 6-2 on El Asilo Search and Destroy and 250-182 on Hotel Hardpoint. But RØKKR did fight until their last breath, as they managed to pry the Expo Control victory out of LAT’s hands – sadly, that didn’t save them from the Lower Bracket.

London Royal Ravens

Last year, the Ravens looked like they could come alive after years of being the weakest team (alongside Paris/Las Vegas Legion) in the CDL. They managed to finish 3rd in the 2022 Stage 1 Major, and with some nice finishes in Qualifiers, they got 4th place in the overall year of Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Sadly, after the departure of Arfo, they fell back down again, finishing in the bottom half of the standings in every event bar from the Stage 1 Qualifiers. However, they are still trying their hardest, swapping out Paul “PaulEhx” Avila for Ulisses “Ulisses” Rios. While the change was definitely needed, London Royal Ravens still couldn’t escape the bottom four in the Stage 4 Qualifiers: Los Angeles Thieves and OpTic Texas beat them 3-0, while they lost to Boston Breach and New York Subliners 1-3. They did clutch a win against Las Vegas Legion, so they don’t come into the Major empty handed.

Minnesota RØKKR vs London Royal Ravens Predictions

While the London Royal Ravens are not the strongest team in the League, they have almost beat Minnesota RØKKR the last time around: in the Stage 2 Major Qualifiers, Obaid “Asim” Asim and his squad lost to Afro and co. 2-3, winning a Fortress Hardpoint 250-244 and a Mercado SnD 6-4 before getting reverse swept. This means that there’s some chance for an upset in the RØKKR – Ravens match, but they are a bit slim, and Minnesota will most likely win the Control round of this Bo5.
