Atlanta FaZe vs Las Vegas Legion Preview and Predictions: Call of Duty League 2023 Stage 5 Qualifiers

Las Vegas Legion has surprised everyone yet again after they almost beat OpTic and managed to defeat NYSL, but how will they fare against FaZe?

The second week of the 2023 CDL Major V Qualifiers is rapidly approaching! Currently Toronto Ultra and OpTic Texas sit at the top with 2 victories, Atlanta FaZe has a 1-1 record, while Major IV champions Los Angeles Thieves have suffered two losses. The next opponent of FaZe will be the Las Vegas Legion, who also got a W and an L last week.

Atlanta FaZe

Chris “Simp” Lehr and his teammates are still trying to replicate the success of the Stage 2 Major, where they washed Los Angeles Theives off the field in the Grand Finals. Sadly for the team, they only got two 3rd place finishes since, and couldn’t start Stage 5 with a flawless first week.

While in the opening match of the Qualifiers, they demolished Los Angeles Guerrillas 3-0, not letting them score a single point on El Asilo Control, they had a taste of their own medicine against OpTic Texas. Cuyler “Huke” Garland and his team served them an 0-3 Expo Control loss alondside a 172-250 Fortress Hardpoint defeat, which is devastating to say the least.

Las Vegas Legion

While the Legion couldn’t live up to the hype they received after the Stage 4 Qualifiers, they are starting to gain momentum again. James “Clayster” Eubanks and co. managed to achieve the team’s first Upper Bracket start for a Major. Sadly, the squad of Las Vegas Legion immediately fluked after losing to New York Subliners 0-3 and Florida Mutineers 2-3.

But they didn’t take that loss to their hearts, as they started Stage 5 with a bang. They almost beat OpTic Texas, winning two maps against one of the best teams in the League, and scoring 5 points to OPTX’s 6 in the last Hotel Search and Destroy. Afterwards though they managed to seal the deal against New York Subliners, who sent them to the Lower Bracket in the last Major. The teams went back and forth in scoring, but with a fateful Hotel SnD, LVL came out on top, beating Clayster’s old team 3-2, and finishing the weekend with a 1-1 record.

Atlanta FaZe vs Las Vegas Legion Predictions

Of course, Atlanta FaZe is the stronger team in this matchup – on paper at least. Las Vegas Legion has proved to be giant-slayers in the last few weeks, beating teams such as OpTic Texas and Los Angeles Thieves in the last Stage, while also defeating NYSL. While so far Clayster and his team wasn’t able to beat FaZe, they are rising up in both the standings and the stats – but have they improved enough to beat FaZe? I think they have a fair shot.
