“We Are Not A One Patch Team”: Quinn Hails The Adaptability Of His Team

The Gaimin Gladiators midlaner says his team has proved that they can excel outside their comfort zone and master new patches

Gaimin Gladiators won the DreamLeague Season 19 championship after an impressive showing at the tournament. After winning the Lima Major 2023, the team has now claimed their second major tournament win with this victory. The team put behind a demoralizing upper-bracket playoff defeat to progress to the Grand Final and beat Team Liquid 3-2 to complete their comeback. They banked $300,000 and booked their flights to Saudia Arabia to participate in the Riyadh Masters 2023. 

During the post-match interview, Quinn “Quinn” Callahan joined the analyst panel to share his thoughts on the team's adaptability and debunk the misconception that they were a one-patch team.

What Did Quinn Say After The DreamLeague Season 19 Grand Final?

Quinn emphasized the ability of his team to adjust to the new patch in his post-match remarks. 

“Yeah, you obviously can’t celebrate the same way since some of us fly out tomorrow morning for Berlin. I think Tofu and I will have to pack up right now. It’s not quite the same but it’s always nice to win. It’s nice to show that we weren’t a patch team and we could adapt and change things up even with the game-changing by a decent amount. A lot of the stuff that we were good at was tweaked and changed so that’s nice to show as well.”

The win was even more remarkable because teams at DreamLeague Season 19 had to compete in the new patch 7.33, which was launched during the event. Players had to familiarize themselves with the changes while competing for the title. GG were able to adjust to the changes effortlessly and continued their winning run. In the Grand Final, they came out on top of the current best-ranked team on the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 2: Division I rankings. 

Quinn and his teammates will not get much time to celebrate, however, as the Berlin Major is right around the corner. How is Quinn planning to recharge and get back to his best ahead of the competition? 

“I’m definitely not going to fast. Exercising is also low on the probability list as I’m sure you can tell. The replays need to be rewatched a bit–that’s not necessarily relaxing but the Major is really close and some stuff of our gameplay needs to be improved. We’re not qualified to TI through (DPC) points so we need to perform at the Major to go to TI–and also it’s fun to win games. I generally don’t get burned out so I’m pretty okay, but I’ll probably take the night off, maybe watch the VODs, order some Mickie D’s, we’ll see.”
