Puppey Believes Solo Could Have Led 9Pandas To Berlin Major Title

The Team Secret captain thinks Alexey “Solo” Berezin’s absence derailed 9Pandas’ Berlin Major ambitions

The Berlin Major 2023 has come to an exhilarating close, with Gaimin Gladiators cementing their place as back-to-back Major champions. Their fierce competitors, Team Liquid, gave it their all in the Grand Final, but ultimately fell short of victory, just as they did in their Lima Major 2023 and Dreamleague Season 19 encounters with GG. While Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid were title contenders before the tournament had started, 9Pandas proved to be the surprise package at Berlin Major with a solid third-place finish. The team were missing their ace Alexey “Solo” Berezin in the competition. While his stand-in Vladimir “RodjER” Nikogosian delivered a praiseworthy performance, Solo could have taken the team even further. That’s what Team Liquid captain Clement “Puppey” Ivanov thinks.

Recently, Puppey joined his former teammate Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat's stream and shared his thoughts on one of the biggest surprises of the tournament – 9Pandas. The Dota 2 legend firmly believed that if the team's captain, Solo, had been present, they could have gone all the way and won the Major.

“To be honest I think this 9Pandas team would have won this tournament (Berlin Major 2023) with Solo [Seriously? How so?] Yeah I mean there’s no taking away from Rodjer. I think Rodjer’s doing a great job and they’re working on it but I feel like Solo was on to some sh*t, okay? It just felt like that, at least,” Puppeyexplained.

Puppey's comments highlighted the potential impact of Solo's absence on the team's performance, with the veteran believing that Solo's presence could have been the key to 9Pandas winning the tournament. Nonetheless, 9Pandas' third-place finish demonstrated their strength as a team. Currently, they are the strongest contender from Eastern Europe (EEU) and are gearing up for the DPC EEU 2023 Tour 3.
