Rumbleverse Is Officially Dead

Grapital City is officially closed and no longer open for business, as Rumbleverse shuts down.
At the end of January, Iron Galaxy Studios and Epic Games hit Rumbleverse fans with some hard news; Rumbleverse would be shutting down on February 28. We still don't know the exact reasons why Rumbleverse is sunsetting. But, as of today at 10 AM CT, the servers went offline, and the game is dead.
A Short Time But A Good Time
Released on August 11, 2022, Rumbleverse was a fresh take on the Battle Royale genre. Focused exclusively on melee combat as opposed to the atypical guns-blazing Battle Royales, Rumbleverse was an interesting blend of fighting game and Battle Royale.
The colorful locales and goofy-looking characters were endearing, and the gameplay was enjoyable. It's honestly hard to believe that the game only lasted half a year before getting the axe.
Rumbleverse, at the very least, went out with a bang. Iron Galaxy Studios made the Battle Pass free for everyone to enjoy for the last month of the game's lifespan and doubled XP gains so everyone could get every remaining reward to enjoy before the game shut down.
With the game now officially shut down, anyone who has made a purchase in Rumbleverse is eligible for a full refund regardless of your system. See Rumbleverse's FAQ page here for details.

Rumbleverse is dead. Competitive Smash isn't looking like it will do too well. And MultiVersus has seen better days.
2023 is going to be an incredible year for fighting game fans. Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 12, Granblue Fantasy: Relink, and more are coming. EVO is sure to be a banger.
But if you're someone who enjoys more unorthodox fighting games, you have to wonder about the stability of the sub-genre moving forward.
