Armored Core VI Releases August 25 And The Gameplay Looks Insane

We got a release date for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, the next entry to FromSoftware's legendary Mecha-battle series. And it's sooner than you might expect.

After its announcement at the Game Awards last year, it has been rather quiet around FromSoftware and their upcoming title Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.

Back in December, a 2023 release window seemed like a far-off fever dream. How would FromSoftware after releasing Elden Ring last year and a DLC still to come have time to make this?

Apparently, they had a headstart.

So here is everything we know about Armored Core VI and more importantly, the release date.

Armored Core VI From Software

Armored Core VI Releases August 25th!

That's right, the new Armored Core makes planetfall on August 25, 2024. That's soon, very soon.

And this either means FromSoftware expects the marketing to do itself or that they its reputation will carry this game.

For more recent fans of their work, this looks like a gross departure from what the Japanese studio is known for. Knights, swords, and the undead are exchanged for Mechs and missile launchers.

But Armored Core has always been one of FromSoftware's staple franchises, dating all the way back to the PlayStation 1 era. It was also the series on which now infamous director Hideaki Miyazaki cut his teeth with.

In many ways, Armored Core was Soulsborne before Soulsborne was a thing, with steep learning curves, endless layers of customization, and extremely competitive PvP.

For some of us, all this fantasy nonsense was just the warm-up so FromSoftware could finally return to the franchise that put them on the map.

All you need to know about Armored Core VI

Feed the Fire. Let the last cinders burn.

What sounds like the introduction to Dark Souls is our first insight into the story of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. Don't worry, the story doesn't require you to be all caught up with previous entries.

Almost 50 years after a mysterious substance burned planet Rubicon 3 and its entire star system to ashes, the substance appears once again on the now desolate planet.

This turns the planet into a warzone as all kinds of groups form megacorporations to rebels fight to get their piece of the pie.

The player infiltrates Rubicon 3 posing as a mercenary for unknown reasons. Your goal is simple, complete your mission and don't get caught.

Like previous entries, players will complete various missions to upgrade and maintain their mech.

Armored Core VI promises to feature the insane depth of customization the series is known for. Customizing and enhancing your loadout to suit your gameplay under the gun of a rough economy.

You can also expect the insane level of detail and depth in each of the game's levels you've grown accustomed to from FromSoftware's previous titles.

As for combat, it is similar to what you've grown accustomed to from other FromSoft games. Just get used to a much higher pace of combat and the third dimension.

Because Armored Core VI will have you lock on to enemies and zip around the battlefield while firing all kinds of weapons. Being mobile and unpredictable is the make of the game, but you'll often be outnumbered.ss 293bb8d15306d36527d9ecee75bff94280e390bf

And of course, the game will feature online PvP. Back in the day, team vs team and one on one battles were fiercely competitive, and the community has been hungry for a new game to sink their teeth in.

However, we don't know how online coop will function if it'll be limited to PvP battles, or if you'll be able to recruit friends and strangers similar to Dark Souls.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is set to launch on August 25 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
