Needless to say, we can’t include anything because the list is massive, which is why this article will only go through the changes that stand out. Don’t forget to check out the complete changelog for more details.

The new items

One of the things that the new Dota 2 patch 7.33 introduced is a couple of new items. Besides those available for purchase, the game also has several new neutral items. Even though you probably expect us to go through everything here, we have a separate article about the new Dota 2 items following The New Frontiers Update, so be sure to check it out.

General Item Changes

After highlighting some of the new items, it is time to go over some of the most interesting general item changes you need to be aware of in this Dota 2 patch 7.33.

Tome of Knowledge is no longer a part of the game

One of the things that excited support players in Dota 2 were the Tome of Knowledge. The latter gave heroes a bonus experience, which was good news for all who needed to level up faster. However, following The New Frontiers Update, this item is no longer available in the game.

Dust of Appearance is different

This popular item is now reworked. Following the changes, Dust of Appearance creates an area that reveals and slows invisible units by 20% in a 1050 radius. Furthermore, the heroes that are revealed take 25 damage. This item lasts for 12 seconds, and the debuffs longer on enemy heroes for 8 additional seconds.

Hood of Defiance is no longer a part of the game

Aside from the Time of Knowledge, Hood of Defiance is no longer a part of the game. However, this does not imply Pipe of Insight, which is one of the items in the Dota 2 patch 7.33.Speaking of this item, it now requires a Ring of Health, Cloack, Headdress, and a Recipe. It gives +25 magic resistance and a 10% Insight Aura Magic Resistance.

Arcane Blink, Overwhelming Blink and Swift Blink

Out of these 3 items, Arcane Blink received the most changes. This item no longer provides mana cost and cast time reduction, nor debuff amp. However, its cooldown is down from 15s to 7s and has 1400 range rather than 1200. I

All of the different types of Blinks (as well as Blink Dagger) will have a 3s mute instead of a 3s cooldown if the hero takes damage from an enemy hero or Roshan.

Black King Bar

One of the items in The New Frontiers Update that received a lot of changes is Black King Bar. After the new patch, Avatar now applies a basic dispel. During its duration, any negative effect on the user won’t affect them, and their magic resistance will increase by 50%. What’s more, heroes will be immune to pure and reflected damage.

IF BKB’s Avatar duration expires before the debuff is over, the target will be affected by the specific ability for the remaining duration.

Dagon is even better

Another big Dota 2 item that received a lot of changes is Dagon. Now, this item requires the following items:

  • Diadem
  • Voodoo Mask
  • Recipe

Instead of providing INT, Dagon now gives stats to all attributes. On top of that, Dagon also provides 15% Spell Lifesteal on level 5. Dagon’s effect itself kills non-ancient creeps instantly and it has a 75% spell lifesteal.

Solar Crest is slightly different

One of the interesting items you should take a look at while playing on the Dota 2 Patch 7.33 is Solar Crest. The item’s recipe is down from 900 gold to 700 gold, which means it is slightly cheaper than before. Aside from that, he’s everything else that’s new following The New Frontiers Update:

  • The item’s armor buff/reduction is now 7 instead of 6.
  • Solar Crest’s MS bonus/slow is up to 18% from 10%.
  • The AS bonus/slow is 70 instead of 50
  • Shine Duration is down to 8s from 12s, and its cooldown is now 16s instead of 12s.

Orb of Destruction

One of the popular Neutral items in Dota 2 is now re-added to the game. However, instead of being a Tier 3 item, it is now Tier 2. With that said, the item gives a -3 Armor Reduction and adds a 20% movement speed slow to melees and 10% to range heroes. This is slightly worse than before, but the item can be obtained earlier.

Flicker is no longer a part of the game

Despite being among the popular neutral items, Valve decided to remove this item from the game. The same applies to a Witchbane and a few other popular items.

Mind Breaker

Like Orb of Destruction, Mind Breaker also experienced some changes because it is now a Tier 4 instead of a Tier 3 item. The magic attack damage bonus is now +45 instead of +25 and the item will provide +30 AS. Furthermore, Mind Breaker will now silence the target for 2s.
