The second Major of the 2023 DPC is over and with it, Gaimin Gladiators won another event. This is the team’s third success in 2023 alone, which means that Quinn and the rest are clearly the best Dota 2 team in the world right now.

Of course, the Berlin Major 2023 was very interesting for a couple of reasons, one of which was the fact that the match was played on the new Dota 2 patch. As you know. 7.33 arrived a few weeks ago and changed everything we know about the game. Unsurprisingly, it had a massive impact on some of the most popular heroes as well.

Many of you are eager to learn more about the Berlin Major 2023 meta-analysis and what we can expect from Tour 3. So, let’s go through some of the most popular heroes and see why they were so successful.

Medusa

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise we’re starting with the elephant in the room. Medusa quickly became overpowered after the arrival of 7.33b because the hero received a lot of buffs. If we take a look at the stats from The Berlin Major 2023, we can see that Medusa has a jaw–dropping win rate of more than 75%. Even more impressive is that the hero appeared in more than 24 games, which is a clear sign that she is incredibly strong right now.

As mentioned, Medusa is a hero that can work in all core lanes. Sure, she needs some farm to start winning, but her ability to lane against pretty much anything and harass it with her snake makes her very strong.

Some Dota 2 players think that Medusa is just too strong in the current meta, and her win rate in PUB games backs it up. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a hero as dominant as her, so we expect Valve to come up with at least a couple of nerfs in the subsequent days/weeks. If we don’t see anything, the hero will continue to be the preferred option for the professional Dota 2 teams in the upcoming Tour 3.

Lich

We’ve mentioned in previous articles that Lich is one of the hottest supports in the current meta and a hero that can work in a variety of cases. Yet, we didn’t expect to see this kind of win rate from a hero that is normally not that popular among professional players.

After the end of The Berlin Major 2023, Lich secured more than a 69% win rate after winning 9 out of 13 matches. Unsurprisingly, this made the hero the most successful support at the event.

Lich’s lane presence and ability to work really well alongside some of the more aggressive carries make him an excellent option in a variety of situations. The hero can make the life of every offlaner a living hell, and his ultimate is always something to be aware of. Of course, we also need to mention his damage output and the ability to CC targets long enough for his allies to kill them.

Beastmaster

It seems like the Dota 2 patch 7.33b has a couple of top-tier offlaners to choose from. Although some may consider Medusa to be the best, since the hero is often a carry or a midder, this honor goes to Beastmaster. Sure, he may not have the same win rate as Dusa, but the hero’s more than 68% after 41 games is really impressive.

Like in previous BM metas, the hero is good in a variety of darts. He is an excellent laner, a hero that can lock down elusive enemies, and one of the best offlaners regarding pushing. Furthermore, the Dota 2 teams at the Berlin Major 2023 who had BM in their team also had a lot more vision, which is really important following the map changes.

Unless Valve decides to nerf the hero prior to the beginning of Tour 3, we expect to see him a lot more in the future. Beastmaster has always been a popular name in all regions, so professional teals will use him as often as possible. 

Alchemist

Another interesting name we have on the list is a Dota 2 hero that is on and off when it comes down to his popularity. That said, the big changes after patch 7.33 put him back in the game, which explains why we became one of the hottest options in the current meta.

The analysis of the hottest picks at The Berlin Major 2023 shows that Alchemist appeared in more than 63 games. With a 65% win rate, he is clearly one of the best cores right now and a hero that can work well in a variety of situations.

Alchemist is a hero who needs a solid start to be ahead of the rest and win the game. Although the laning stage is not easy for him, the fact that there are so many neutral camps on the map allows the hero to be way more effective. Consequently, we will surely see a lot more from him in the DPC Tour 3 that starts in just a couple of days from now.

Honorable mentions

Besides the heroes mentioned above, several other names shined during the Berlin Major 2023. Oracle, for example, has proven himself as a reliable companion to a lot of aggressive carries. Pangolier, Naga Siren, Terrorvlade, and even Silencer are also a few names that are worth mentioning.
