Pittsburgh Knights Announce Strategic Partnership with Wiz Khalifa

The Pittsburgh Knights Esports organization announced a partnership with rapper Cameron Jibril “Wiz Khalifa” Thomaz this morning.

North American esports organization Pittsburgh Knights announced a partnership with Cameron Jibril “Wiz Khalifa” Thomaz this morning, according to a press release from the organization. Thomaz will join the organization as a strategic partner and provide creative direction, marketing assistance, live events and entertainment for the organization. The rapper hails from Pittsburgh, making the partnership a natural fit according to Thomaz:

“It is awesome to partner with the Knights, alongside the Pittsburgh Steelers, on this exciting endeavor. The Knights are pushing the boundaries in the esports space with an experienced team. Being based in Pittsburgh, my hometown, a city known for bringing home championships, I am pumped to be a part of this moment in history kicking off another winning team for the city.”

Knight's president James O'Connor had this to say on the partnership with Thomaz:

“Wiz is definitely a visionary. He’s always ahead of the curve; he’s creative and savvy and we admire him and his team for their work ethic. We’re really happy to welcome him into the Knights’ family.”

The Pittsburgh Knights made headlines in 2018 when they partnered with the nearby Pittsburgh Steelers NFL franchise. The organization fields teams in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Player Unknown's Battleground and Call of Duty among others.

Music artists are continuing to enter the esports space, as evidenced both by Thomaz's partnership with the Knights and the recent The Weeknd partnership with OverActive Media.
