Skillz Unveils Mobile Gaming Tournaments Supporting the American Cancer Society

Following the partnership revealed in July, Skillz has announced mobile gaming tournaments supporting the American Cancer Society (ACS).

Skillz, an esports provider for mobile games, has announced a range of tournaments for mobile esports professionals to compete in and support the American Cancer Society. Through the Skillz platform, competitors in mobile games such as Bubble Shooter League (iOS) can compete in tournaments where Skillz will donate 100% of the tournaments net proceeds directly to the ACS.

The announcement comes on the heels of a July announcement of a partnership between Skillz and the ACS. Sharon Byers, Chief Development, Marketing and Communications Officer for the ACS had this to say on their deal with Skillz:

“Partnering with Skillz is a new and exciting way for the American Cancer Society to engage a wider and younger mobile-first audience,” said Sharon Byers, Chief Development, Marketing and Communications Officer of the American Cancer Society. “When the mobile gaming community rallies together, it can be an incredible force for good, flexing the power of modern technology to tackle persistent health challenges like cancer. We’re eager to kick off this new cutting-edge fundraising partnership with Skillz.”

The ACS is the largest non-profit financier of cancer research in the US, with over $4.6B USD invested into cancer research. Professional gaming has continued to trend upwards, with Newzoo forecasting that the industry will have a market value of over $1.4B USD by 2020.

Skillz CEO and found Andrew Paradise echoed Byers in his statement, saying,

The next Skillz/ACS charity tournament is scheduled for October 19^th and 20^th, and those willing to participate can choose from four mobile games to compete in including Solitaire Cube, Bubble Shooter League, eSports Bowling and Diamond Strike.

Additionally, users can enter the code ACSDKF3C and Skillz will match and contribute 100% of their first in-game deposit to the ACS.
