Professional Soccer Star Gareth Bale Launches Ellevens Esports Organization

While professional soccer player, Gareth Bale, is known for his football skills he has undoubtedly started something great in the world of esports.

Just this week, Welsh professional footballer Gareth Bale launched Ellevens Esports. Launched in partnership with the 38 Entertainment Group. Of which both entrepreneur Jonathan Kark and former professional footballer Larry Cohen are co-founders.

The organization will start out in the FIFA league. After having signed a team that will officially compete in the FIFA eClub World Cup this month. Ellevens Esports have also announced plans to enter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rocket League, and Fortnite, all within the next few months.

Bale discussed the venture in an official press release:

On the pitch, my goal is always to win. With Ellevens Esports, that winning attitude is just as important. There are similarities between football and esports in that it takes real dedication and sacrifice to reach the top of your game. I am looking to recruit a team of world-class players for Ellevens across a variety of games. Unearthing new talent is an exciting part of the process and it’s been really exciting to be involved in selecting our line-up of players so far!

Ellevens Esports will also launch its first “open host” talent search. Allowing players to join the organization under a professional and definitive contract. The launch of the new organization is a promising sign for both industries overall. At this rate, especially with the amount of collaboration between leagues over the past two years, esports and real sports are becoming a super hybrid worth talking about.
