Call of Duty League Major 4 Qualifiers – Week 2 Day 3 Recap

Here’s all the action from the final day of week 2 of the CDL Major 4 Qualifiers.

The Call of Duty League continued with week 2 of qualifiers for Major 4, hosted by the New York Subliners. Following some incredible matches on days one and two, we moved on to the final three matches for day three. Here’s a recap of every map, and every series.

Boston Breach 3-1 Los Angeles Guerrillas

The Los Angeles Guerrillas were coming into this match following a 3-1 victory over Atlanta FaZe, taking two Hardpoints in this series. At the same time, Boston Breach’s most recent win was over Seattle Surge, including a Bocage Hardpoint win here. Bocage was the destination for map one, and Boston Breach came out on top with a 201-185 victory. This map came down to the game clock, but Nero showed his aggression, putting up 39 kills and a 1.30 K/D.

Boston Breach may have taken map one, but map two in this series was taken by the Los Angeles Guerrillas. We remained on Bocage, but LAG was victorious with a 6-3 Search and Destroy win, with 10 kills from Huke as the Guerrillas looked dominant in this SnD. They stayed composed and clutched up when needed to tie the series 1-1. Boston Breach continued their recent strong Control performances with a 3-1 Tuscan Control victory as they clutched up on the final offensive round to take the map. Nero was excellent in this map, putting up 34 kills as he led his Boston Breach team to a 2-1 lead in the series.

Boston Breach closed out the series 3-1 with a 250-146 Berlin Hardpoint. Nero was insanely dominant once again, dropping 30 kills, putting him as the highest slayer in the lobby. This was a great showing from Boston Breach, and could possibly be the start of them settling with Vivid, and looking dangerous heading into Major 4.

LA Thieves 3-0 Paris Legion

LA Thieves have begun their Major 4 Qualifiers with a bang, looking better than ever in their recent matches. With a five-match losing streak on Tuscan Hardpoint, LA Thieves looked to improve their map pool going into this series by playing it for map one. While they started slow and found themselves down around 40 points at the midway point, the Thieves turned it up for the second half of the map and eventually closed it out 250-226.

Search and Destroy also went the way of LA Thieves as they dominated on Tuscan once again, picking up a 6-3 win. The Thieves were excellent as they worked the bomb sites together, ensuring they picked up trades. Drazah was the top performer, dropping 10 kills with a 2.00 K/D as LA Thieves went 2-0 up in this series. Drazah didn't stop after the Search and Destroy as he went on to drop 23 kills and a massive 2.30 K/D in the following Gavutu Control as LA Thieves closed out a 3-0 victory in the series. The Thieves appear to be back at their best, but you can’t help feeling bad for Temp, who put up a 1.40 K/D on Paris Legion in this series and has been their top performer all year.

New York Subliners 3-1 OpTic Texas

The New York Subliners have been getting better and better with every match so far in Major 4 Qualifiers. This series started no different, with NYSL taking a 250-171 victory on Bocage Hardpoint, with Hydra topping the leaderboard with 38 kills. Hydra began the map slowly, but once he picked it up, NYSL picked it up, going on an amazing run and chaining hills together as they secured the map one victory. We stayed on Bocage for map two, however, this was a complete reverse result with OpTic Texas taking down NYSL 6-2 in Search and Destroy. Scump was running through the Subliners in this map, earning full streaks as OpTic Texas tied the series 1-1.

The New York Subliners bounced back with a 3-0 in map three on Berlin Control as Kismet turned up in this map with a massive 24 kills, while PaulEhx matched him going 21/15 in this map. OpTic continued to struggle on Berlin Control, while the Subliners go 2-1 up in the series. Berlin Hardpoint was the destination for map four, and historically we see the winner of Berlin Control go on to win the following Berlin Hardpoint too. This didn't change whatsoever, as New York dominated the Berlin hardpoint while Kismet picked up full streaks on the way to their 250-168 win, and 3-1 series victory.
