Ninja Has a Confirmed Squad for the Fortnite Champion Series

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins finally has a FNCS team.

It’s been an odd ride for Tyler “Ninja” Blevins since he shifted focus to a more content-driven approach in his career. At Fortnite’s beginning, no one can argue that Blevins was one of, if not the, top player in competitive Fortnite. The former Halo professional player had some success in Fortnite Friday tournaments, and performed well at the Ninja Vegas 2018 tournament, which he hosted. Blevins’ Fortnite career peaked during the Fortnite World Cup Qualifiers, where he and Malachi “Reverse2k” Greiner nearly qualified. The duo ultimately missed the cut by 1 point, but Blevins is clearly not done competing despite the success he’s found with his content creation and consistent streams.

Ninja in the FNCS

Blevins seems to have found a home in the upcoming Fortnite Champion Series for Chapter 2. The core trio within this squad has not changed from Trever “FaZe Funk” Siegler, Nate “FaZe Nate Hill” Hill and Malachi “Reverse2k” Greiner. The fourth player for this squad has been up for grabs over the past two weeks. Greiner initially teased that the fourth player could be Blevins, so long as he can commit to practicing and improving his skills. With an emphasis on box fighting and editing, Fortnite is much different than it was when Blevins was at his peak as a professional Fortnite player.

Success in Scrims

Siegler, Hill and Greiner tried out different players, but it appears that Mixer superstar Ninja earned the fourth spot. We have not seen Ninja in a deeply competitive atmosphere since before the Fortnite World Cup. He’s notably worked on his mechanics and is improving his overall gameplay. Although he is not the most mechanically proficient player, his aim and general game sense will suffice during this Fortnite Champion Series run. The full squad of Blevins, Hill, Siegler and Greiner has seen some shocking success in Tier 2 professional scrims. They have earned multiple Victory Royales and are just one level below scrims that include the likes of Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf and Turner “Tfue” Tenney.

What to Expect

It’s truly difficult to project where Blevins’ squad will settle in the competitive Fortnite landscape. The amount of talented players never seems to end, and each upcoming player is better than the last. For Blevins, Hill, Siegler and Greiner, it’s a tall order to ask for this squad to go out and win week 1 of the Fortnite Champion Series. However, their recent success provides a shred of hope that this team can function on the same page, make smart decisions and navigate end game like the true veterans that they are. Dropping at Dirty Docks could pose some problems as they will undoubtedly be contested off the spawn. Blevins, Hill, Siegler and Greiner have four weeks to figure out their optimal strategies and rotations. Many will be watching closely as Blevins attempts to reinvigorate his competitive career in outstanding fashion.
