Fortnite: Is Ninja Making The Move To YouTube Gaming?

Ninja might be on the move to YouTube Gaming.

Nearly two weeks ago, popular video game streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins received a reported $30 million payout after Microsoft decided to close down the Mixer platform. Since then, social media has been clamoring for answers as to where Ninja would land next. Many believe the former Twitch streamer would find his way back where he started. It seemed the obvious choice, considering that Ninja’s Twitch account possesses the most follows of any channel on the platform. Many also surmised that Ninja could make the move to Facebook Gaming, however, he turned down a reported $30 to $90 million dollar offer to follow his former Mixer cohorts.

An interesting leak hit social media earlier today from famed Fortnite leaker HYPEX. This potentially ground-breaking leak could be the insight everyone has been waiting for as to where Ninja will call his new home.

HYPEX grabbed a screenshot of Ninja’s YouTube channel, which depicted a scheduled “Test” stream for this evening at 7:32 EST. This scheduled stream apparently went public instead of private, which granted the Fortnite leaker an opportunity to capture some proof.

Ninja has been active on social media as of late but has not officially announced a partnership with any streaming platform. YouTube is one of the significant players for Ninja, especially considering their recent signings of Jack “CourageJD” Dunlop and Rachel “Valkyrae” Hofstetter. The Google-owned platform also houses PewDiePie, who is arguably the most popular gaming channel in history. It is not out of the realm of possibility that Ninja could land with YouTube in the coming weeks, they certainly have deep enough pockets to afford him.

Why not Twitch?

Parented by Amazon, Twitch is the largest streaming platform in the world today. Personalities like Turner “Tfue” Tenney and Jaryd “Summit” Lazar are two of Twitch’s household names in a sea of many. It seemed poetic that Ninja would find his way back to Twitch, considering his rise to stardom took place on their platform. However, it is possible that recent controversies surrounding Twitch and its partnered streamers may have deterred him. We won’t know the answer until Ninja speaks publicly and reveals his decision.

Tempered expectations are always important at a time like this. We know that Ninja received a massive payout from Mixer. He decided to bide his time instead of jumping to another website without serious thought. The former Twitch turned Mixer star is still currently a free-agent in every sense of the word. He currently possesses 23.8 million subscribers on YouTube.
