Logic Quits Rapping, Will Now Stream On Twitch

Best known for his rapping, Logic will now change vocations as he pursues his Twitch career.

Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, better known as Logic, Bobby Boy, or Young Sinatra, has signed an exclusive deal with Twitch to stream on its platform. The news comes days after Logic announced his retirement from rap. Logic has been streaming on Twitch for the past few years, and as of writing has around 70,000 followers and closing in on 2 million views. Twitch is clearly looking to tie down Logic to its platform.

We’ve seen a wave of celebrities joining Twitch joining the global pandemic, but in Logic’s case seems to make sense. Fans will know he's always had a soft spot for nerdy/gaming culture. You need to look no further than a song he made in 2016, named “Super Mario World.” This seems like a crazy move to many, but that makes it so much more interesting. Someone with such a large following already is sure to pick up traction quickly.

Logic remarked on his move and what it means for his community:

“I think it's a powerful platform that allows me to connect with my fans in the best way possible. This is the place where if you want to interact with me, you're going to do it here. I'm not going to be on Twitch, having political debates. I'm going to be on Twitch, helping people smile after they've had a day of protesting or political debates, unwind and laugh and smile.”

Another celebrity with Twitch

There are many streamers that become celebrities from their successful streaming careers, but already popular celebrities have joined in on the streaming craze too. People like Henry Cavill, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and DeAndre Cortez “Soulja Boy” Way are some who've streamed themselves and found themselves in the spotlight, outside of the mainstream. However, Logic's case is strikingly different, as he's looking to make this his main job.

Logic joked around about the upcoming move too:

“I'm blessed enough to have millions of fans and followers. So it is a great partnership. I'm going to bring new eyes to their service, they're going to bring new money to my bank account, and — I'm just kidding.”

While he might be kidding, the deal is reportedly going to be worth seven-figures, so it will certainly help keep him in the black. This is yet another important signing for the platform, as the battle for streaming supremacy rages on. Though one of the other competitors, Mixer, is on the way out, YouTube Gaming and Facebook Gaming have shown they're willing to pay out big bucks for big names, like Tyler “Ninja” Blevins.

Logic will make his debut as a Twitch partner on July 21 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. EST, where he will debut his latest and final album “No Pressure” before it drops elsewhere on July 24.
