Dr Disrespect resolves dispute with Twitch, says he won’t return to the platform

The ongoing dispute between Dr Disrespect and Twitch has officially concluded.

Two years have passed since Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm IV was inexplicably barred from the Twitch platform. Since then, neither side offered much information as to why this punishment materialized in the first place apart from an interview involving the content creator one month following the incident. Beahm has not signed with another platform—instead deciding to stream as a free agent on YouTube. 

Today, Beahm unexpectedly announced that he was moving on from the situation, later adding that he would not return to Twitch. It’s unclear at this stage what unfolded behind the scenes between both parties amid the lengthy legal battle. 

Dr Disrespect vs. Twitch Ends Abruptly

Beahm took to Twitter today with an obligatory statement regarding the Twitch conflict. He posted a screenshot of a signed letter. The letter reads:

“I have resolved my legal dispute with Twitch. No party admits to any wrongdoing.”

The former Twitch streamer followed that, writing, “In response to all your questions, the Doc will not return to Twitch.” 

This moment marks a bizarre end to an even stranger situation. Beahm has supposedly known the catalyst of the ban since it happened nearly two years ago. He continued taking shots at Twitch on social media and YouTube while suppressing details during the legal process. 

Meanwhile, Twitch mainly remained silent on the matter. The company stated that Beahm’s ban occurred due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. We never learned the precise reason from either side despite the story’s coverage across the industry. 

What’s Next for Dr Disrespect?

Beahm has been streaming on YouTube since the Twitch ban, although he never signed a contract. The 40-year-old remains a free agent from the streaming side. He recently opened a gaming studio named Midnight Society and added many members to the team. However, there is no word on any titles in development. 

It’s safe to assume that Beahm will close the Twitch chapter of his life and continue streaming on YouTube. The platform could offer him a contract, but it would likely need to be substantial for him to consider. Beahm currently live streams freely without predetermined hours to meet, so he may opt to continue that while working on Midnight Society. 

As for Twitch, they have committed to a slew of streamers of late, including Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff and Imane “Pokimane” Anys. However, the website has lost well-known creators Ludwig Ahgren and Tim “timthetatman” Betar to YouTube in recent months. Ultimately, only Dr Disrespect knows what’s next. For now, the dispute with Twitch is now in the rear-view mirror, and he’s on to different ventures.
