EA Sports and FIFA End Two-Decade Long Partnership

Goodbye, EA Sports FIFA, hello EA Sports FC.

EA is a titan of the gaming industry. Their sports division is arguably even bigger than themselves, with EA Sports FIFA being the largest. Almost everybody in the world has heard of FIFA at one point or another, and most of the time they’re referring to EA Sports FIFA, their yearly football game that is loved by many. However, with players reducing and controversy over their Ultimate Team packs, EA Sports have made a change.

EA Sports Move Forward Without FIFA

From 2023, EA Sports will be removing FIFA from its title and beginning a new game, EA Sports FC.

“Our vision for EA SPORTS FC is to create the largest and most impactful football club in the world, at the epicenter of football fandom,” said Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson. “For nearly 30 years, we’ve been building the world’s biggest football community – with hundreds of millions of players, thousands of athlete partners, and hundreds of leagues, federations, and teams.  EA SPORTS FC will be the club for every one of them, and for football fans everywhere.”

With licenses to more than 300 individual partners, players have access to more than 19,000 athletes across 700 teams, in 100 stadiums and over 30 leagues around the world. EA are looking to expand on this even further in coming years, introducing more women and grassroots football to the game.

What is happening to FIFA 23?

Well, FIFA 23 is still going ahead, and it's set to be a big one. EA said that their final FIFA will include more game modes, features, teams, leagues, players, and competitions than any previous edition.

FIFA 23 will release in the fall of this year, with EA Sports FC released in 2023.
