Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Framerate Fix

Here's how to fix the framerate issue in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

There is a temporary fix for the dropping of frames when in a city or high polygon/texture area upon release of the Generation 9 Pokémon games.

How to Fix the Framerate

Centro Pokémon reported on Twitter that anytime there is a drop in framerate, there is a quick and easy fix. Save your game wherever you are, even if you are still inside of the location that is causing your framerate to drop. Go to the home screen of your Switch, and close out of the Pokémon Scarlet or Violet application. Reload into the game, and once your load back into where you were, the framerate should be fixed. Keep in mind, the draw distance and resolution in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are still not great, so when you see stuttering objects in the distance, that is still normal, there is not reason to reset again.

Lifespan of Framerate

Sadly, this is not a one time fix. There has been no patch to fix any issues in the game including framerate issues. When entering new areas of the game, especially towns and cities with lots of textures and lights, the framerate will likely drop again. The same sequence of resetting the game will fix the framerate once again, but its something you will have to do multiple times during your playthrough.

Upon our own tests, we've found that the framerate fix can last up to an hour or two worth of playtime, but if flying to multiple cities for any reason, the game can easily start to drop frames within minutes.
