Pokemon Day 2023 Direct Recap

Here is everything you need to know about the Pokemon Day 2023 direct.

Happy Pokemon Day! Today marks the 27th anniversary of the release of Pokemon Red and Blue in Japan. Back then the games launched with 150 Pokemon and now in the year 27 there are over 1000 of the little monsters, helming a global media empire!

Here is everything you need to know about the Pokemon Direct of 2023 with all the juicy details! Some smaller announcements, updates to all the games as well as the reveal of Pokemon Scarlet and Violets DLC!

The Pokemon World Championship 2023

Pokemon World Championship 2023 will be held in August in Japan. For Pokemon Unite, Scarlet and Violet, Pokemon Go, and the Trading Card Game. The event will be held in Yokohama, Japan.

Like every year, this event will feature some of the best trainers of the entire world, competing to the title of Pokemon master in their respective categories and league. For more information on the event, please refer to the official website.

Pokemon TCG Classic

Pokemon TCG Classic is a new version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. There are no real details about it yet, but it seems to be a return to the original version of the game. And meant to be stand-alone without any expansion packs in mind.

So we can only assume it'll feature the original set of cards. As well as some slight adjustments to the rules and cards of back in the day. But there'll be more information on that soon.

Netflix and the Pokemon Company are producing a new animated show together. Created as a stop-motion series set in a Pokemon Resort: Pokemon Concierge.

The whole thing is produced by Dwarf Studio who are probably best known for their work on Rilakkuma and Kaoru, a series you can check out on Netflix now. The show will mainly be a slice of life and center around Haru's various exploits in the Pokemon Resort.

Pokemon Unite Update

The Pokemon MOBA Pokemon Unite is receiving yet another update! After they just announced that the Fairy-type Comfey would join the roster. Pokemon Sword's legendary Pokemon Zacian will also join as a playable Pokemon as part of a special event!

The Pokemon is being introduced in the Adventure in Zacian's Weald event, in which players have to complete various missions in-game to unlock Zacian's Unite License as well as other special items.

There is also a special new Boss Rush mode being introduced to the free-to-play title. Here players can fight against various bosses from the game for rewards.

Pokemon Masters Ex 3.5 Year Anniversary

Of course, don't forget the mobile Pokemon Masters Ex which celebrates it three and a half year anniversary. As part of the Pokemon Day celebrations, for the next month, players can receive a special log-in bonus once they've met a few special conditions.

The update also brings the Galarian Champion versions of your three from Sword and Shield. Marnie will team up with the Galarian version of Moltres, Hop will team up with Zapdos and Bede will join forces with Articuno.

And as a special on top, Glar Region Champion Leon and his Charizard return for a limited time and can be obtained till March 14.

Pokemon Sleep is Real

Pokemon Sleep was first revealed in 2019 and was originally supposed to release in 2020. But after long delays, it seems like the mobile title will finally release in the summer of this year. Which begs the question, what even is Pokemon Sleep?

It's an app that you can launch before you go to bed or take a nap. Your phone will track your sleep, analyze it and sort you into different types of sleeping: snoozing, dozing, and slumbering. Depending on your sleep, you'll attract more Pokemon that'll join you on your snooze adventures.

It's definitely a different speed from other Pokemon titles and its left to be seen if it becomes compatible with Pokemon HOME. Let's just hope that it features an array of wake-up calls from different Pokemon.

Pokemon GO Plus +

The Pokemon GO Plus + is not only a weird name for a product, but it's also an advanced version of the Pokemon GO Plus which made your Pokemon go adventures a little easier. While the original was only meant to be paired with Pokemon Go, the new Pokemon GO Plus + will be able to be paired with Pokemon Sleep.

So instead of turning on your phone to tell it you'll be going to sleep or wake up, this little device will let you interact with the app and all your mobile pokemon needs with the click of a button. Pikachu will also sing you a good night lullaby. Hopefully, there'll be more Pokemon available at launch!

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet Updates and DLC

From February 27th to March 12th, Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will feature a new, limited-time Paradox Pokemon in a new Tera Raid Battle event which will allow you to catch Walking Wake in Pokemon Scarlet and Iron Leaves in Pokemon Violet.

Scarlet and Violet will also get support for Pokemon Go and Pokemon Home in the near future.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will also receive a DLC that'll be split into two parts, similar to Sword and Shield.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. In Part 1: The Teal Mask, a school trip will take players to the land of Kitakami, where they will be joining an outdoor study program held jointly between their academy and another school.

In Part 2: The Indigo Disk players will be traveling to Blueberry Academy, a sister school of their own academy, as exchange students. While this tale is split into two parts, they link together to tell a connected story.

Altogether, both parts will feature 230 Pokemon that were not featured in the base game for players to catch and trade. As well as four new Pokemon to discover and learn about.

The first part of the DLC is planned to release in the Fall of 2023 and the second part will follow in the Winter of 2023. You can preorder the DLC “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” now on the Nintendo e-shop and receive exclusive pre-order bonuses like new outfits and a Hisuian Zoroak today!
