WoW: Blizzard Gives Us A Glimpse Of Tier Sets In 9.2, Second Legendary Explained

With 9.2 now announced, Blizzard has made an official announcement explaining how gearing will work.

Tier sets are back in 9.2, and WoW players cannot get enough of it. Though the first look at what the armor will look like has been divided, the initial look at the set bonuses has not. Blizzard took to the forums to make an official announcement and give some examples of the 9.2 tier sets as data mining began on the 9.2 PTR build.

Tier Sets in 9.2

Named “Progenitor Armor,” the 9.2 tier sets finally bring back a much-loved gearing source to players in 9.2. Found on the helm, shoulders, chest, gauntlets, and legging, the armor will come with a two-piece and four-piece set bonus. So far, Blizzard has revealed three of those set bonuses, with examples for Hunter (BM), Paladin (Prot), and Druid (Restoration).

Hunter (Beast Mastery)

  • Two-piece – Your Kill Command critical strike chance is increased for each stack of Frenzy your pet has.
  • Four-piece – Kill Command critical hits increase the damage and cooldown reduction of your next Cobra Shot.

Paladin (Protection)

  • Two-piece – Casting Shield of the Righteous grants you a stacking increase to your Block chance.
  • Four-piece – Blocking an attack has a chance to cast Judgment at your attacker.

Druid (Restoration)

  • Two-piece – Swiftmend heals an additional amount for each periodic healing effect on the target.
  • Four-piece – Swiftmend heals nearby allies for a percentage of its healing done.

Legendaries

Legendaries are getting some love, too, in 9.2. With the main edition being that you’ll be able to equip two of them. However, rather than having to find a solution to having two legendaries and the new armor, Blizzard has made the second legendary useable via a new belt. Blizzard gave some added details:

“The unique characteristic of this new Legendary belt is that your Runecarving Effect will switch freely alongside your character whenever swapping covenants. There’s no need to craft a new Legendary Belt for each covenant. The Legendary belt will match the look of your class’s Progenitor armor set and can be equipped alongside another Shadowlands Legendary in a different armor slot, giving you two powerful legendary effects to boost your power. If you’d like to craft the new covenant-swapping Runecarving Effect on a different armor slot, a new Runecarving Memory will let you do so.”

Fear not, we’ll have a new currency to use on these new legendaries:

“All legendaries can now be upgraded with Cosmic Flux, a new currency inspired by lessons learned from Echoes of Ny’alotha in Battle for Azeroth. Cosmic Flux will be rewarded from a variety of activities in Shadowlands Season 3, such as defeating raid bosses, PvP, Mythic+, Torghast, Tower of the Damned, and World Quests.”

For now, that’s all the details we have. However, we expect news to come out thick-and-fast in the coming months leading up to the full release of 9.2. The patch isn’t expected to arrive in 2021, with many speculating a February or March 2022 date.
