WoW: Wotlk Classic Best Hunter Pets for PvE And Leveling

A Hunter’s pet is a key part of their arsenal, so you want to make sure you bring the right one for the job at hand. Here's our Wotlk Classic Best Hunter Pets.

With Classic Wotlk, Hunter is going to be one of the most popular DPS specs through the phases. With the introduction of the level 70 boost, many players opted to boost the hunter with how easy they are to play. Here at ESTNN, we've compiled a list of Wotlk Classic Best Hunter Pets for raids, dungeons, and leveling.

Wotlk Classic Best Hunter Pets for Raiding and Dungeons

There are three major pet families that you’ll see a lot of during Wotlk Classic. Cats, Ravagers, and Scorpids. Cats and Scorpids have been around since Classic, but Ravagers burst onto the scene in TBC. Well, those haven't really changed, and it's once again the Ravager that will dominate. For those that don't like the look of the Ravagers, cats are a solid alternative.

So where can you get these three lovely pets? Ravagers: While you can find the Quillfang Ravager in Hellfire Peninsula, while this was hard to get at the start of TBC, it'll be easy now. Alliance players can head over to Azuremyst Isle to pick one up early if they plan to level a Draenei. Either the Ravager Specimen or Death Ravager can be picked up with ease, just remember you’ll need to do some serious leveling first.

Cats: Probably the most common pet in Classic, and for good reason. Cats are some of the most powerful pets in the game, and they tend to be some of the most aesthetically pleasing as well. With so many to choose from, head over to Petoptia to find the one that suits you best.

Scorpids: Like Cats, Scorpids have been some of the most popular pets in Classic. Less of an offensive option than the Cat, Scorpids tend to be more defensive-minded, with their vast resistances and higher stamina making them ideal solo pets. Only one model of Scorpids exists in WoW, but they’re a fair few colors to pick from.

Warp Stalker: The Warp Stalker is a slightly more niche option for dungeons, but its aoe can help with farming 5-person content. While the Stalker doe reduced damage as a result of its aoe. The Stalker also has one other trick up its sleeve. Warp Time allows the Stalker to blink to their target every 15-seconds, increasing effective DPS uptime as a result.

Important Pet Talents

Active: Bite, Claw, Gore, Scorpid Poison (the active will depend on the pet, Scorpid Poison is, unsurprisingly, a Scorpid attack)

Passive: Avoidance, Cobra Reflexes, Great Stamina

While you can’t get these for all the pets at the same time, these are some key abilities that can be used by all, alternating a few of the active abilities.

Wotlk Classic Best Hunter Pets for Raiding and Dungeons

While probably not something many will care too much about. The increased stable slots mean that having a support pet can be a great addition to a raid team. As we said in the section above on leveling, the Owl is the best to use if you want to help out. The Owls have the screech ability, which will reduce the Attack Power of the enemy. The owl also works well as a leveling pet, for their screech and general aoe.

If you go BM, you’ll find most pets fit the bill, however, if you want something a little extra special we suggest you go for a Boar. With some good active and passive abilities, like the above-mentioned Gore, plus the addition of both Dash and Charge, Boars are a solid pet. And while there’s only one model, you’ll have a fairly easy time finding them regardless of what faction you play.

Another option comes in the form of Bats and Owls. Bats are more Horde-focused, while Owls tend to be easier for Alliance. The main thing they do offer is an aoe threat generator with Screetch, something lacking by nearly all other pets. Sadly, Bats and Owls come in very limited looks and colors, so be sure to find the one you like.
