ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoffs Breakdown

Apex Legends fans, rejoice; 2023 Apex Legends Esports is about to kick off with the ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoffs! A million dollars in prize money is on the line, and there's a lot to cover.


The ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoffs will take place in London at the Copper Box Arena from February 2-5. The best teams from all five regions of the ALGS Pro League will compete for the world's top spot. 

Tournament Format

Here are the 40 teams competing in the Split 1 Playoffs.

The ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoffs will begin with a Group Stage. There will be four Groups of 10 teams each. From February 2-3, each Group will face off against all the others in a single six-match series. 

Once the Group Stage is over, the teams will enter a Double Elimination Bracket Stage, with their performance in the Group Stage determining their placement. The Bracket Stage will begin on Saturday, February 4. 

The 20 teams that achieve victory in the Bracket Stage will move on to the Match Point Finals, which begin on Sunday, February 5. The Finals matches will consist of a single Match Point format series. Stay tuned to see who will win it all.

Thursday, February 2 at 17:00 GMT is the start time for the ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoffs. The Bracket Stage will begin at 10: 00 GMT on Saturday, February 4. The Match Point Finals will kick off on February 5 at 12:00 GMT. 

11 casters will be providing English coverage of the ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoffs.

Nine casters will provide A stream coverage of the ALGS Year 3 Split 1 playoffs. NiceWigg and Greek will be live at the Copper Box Arena, providing B stream coverage of the Group Stage on NiceWigg's Twitch channel. NiceWigg and Greek will also be hosting watch parties for the Bracket Stage and Match Point Finals. 

You can view the English coverage of the Playoffs on Apex's official YouTube and Twitch channels. Coverage will also be available in Mandarin, Portuguese, Japanese, and Thai. Check out Newer Esports, WooHoo, RAGE Twitch/RAGE YouTube, and Friends Project for that coverage. For Mandarin viewers, be advised that their coverage will only be for the Finals. 

ALGS Multiview is back, and fans can enjoy up to four split-screen Windows coverage of the ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoffs via Command Center functionality on Twitch.

The top 3 finishing teams will each take home more than six figures in prize money. The Split 1 Champion team will earn a whopping $300,000. The runner-up will take home $160,000, and the bronze-medalist team will net $105,000.

Teams' performances will also affect their standings in the 2023 Playoff race. Split 2 regional slot distribution will be partially determined by Split 1 performance. Playoff Points are also on the line, and those will decide whether teams qualify for the ALGS Championship this summer. 

Twitch Drops

Of course, there will be Twitch Drops for the ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoffs. To qualify for them, make sure you have linked your platform account to your EA account and your EA account to your Twitch account

If you can't tune in to the entire event, just be sure to drop by during the Finals, as that's when you can qualify for the Twitch Drops. After watching 15 cumulative minutes of the Finals, you'll earn an ALGS Hunter Holospray. After one cumulative hour of watch time, you'll get the Shock & Claw Volt Weapon Skin. After two hours, you'll receive a Natural Selection Gibraltar Skin and, after three hours, a King of the Ring Gun Charm.
