COVID-19 Outbreak Forces Postponement of FNATIC vs KOI VCT EMEA Matchup

The highly anticipated FNATIC vs KOI VCT EMEA matchup, scheduled for today, has been postponed due to several positive COVID-19 cases within the FNATIC team

Only hours before the week 4 clash between FNATIC and KOI, it was announced that the tournament organizers are forced to reschedule the match for a later date as a covid outbreak in the FNATIC camp has left the team unable to field a full roster.

According to officials from FNATIC, the positive COVID-19 cases within their team are not limited to a single player but instead involve several members affected by the virus. As a result, the team is not in a position to compete, and the decision to postpone the game has been made with the health and safety of players and staff as the top priority.

Later, Nikita “derke” Sirmitev took to Twitter to confirm that he and his teammate, Leo “leo” Jannesson, were the ones who tested positive for the virus.

This is not the first time the LOCK//IN champions have been plagued with out-of-the-game issues. Earlier in the tournament, they had to play with a substitute as Alfajer could not get a visa in time. Despite the setbacks, the FNATIC squad has managed to maintain an undefeated record in the league stage so far and sits at the top of the VCT EMEA standings.
