Overwatch 2 Season 3 Ranking Guide – How To Win & Climb Faster

Season 3 of Overwatch 2 arrived just a few days ago, and it brought loads of hero and game changes. We have access to new maps and features that definitely made the game feel more interesting. In fact, you can go through the changelog by clicking here, and you can also preview the most important hero changes here.

Now that you are aware of the new things, it is time to focus on something really important – reaching your desired rank in Overwatch 2. To be honest, we expected some drastic changes to the competitive play option, but Blizzard only changed a couple of things. With that said, the tiers will be adjusted after every 5 wins or 15 losses, which is better than before (it was 7 victories and 20 losses).

With that said, let’s go through several Tips & Tricks you can use to reach your desired rank in Overwatch 2 Season 3.

Use the best heroes in the patch

When it comes down to heroes, Overwatch 2 has more options than ever before. Although Season 3 didn’t give us access to a new Tank, DPS, or Support, there are plenty of top-tier options to choose from. With that said, it is advisable to focus on the top heroes that are really strong in Season 3 because they will allow you to reach your desired rank much faster.

Right now, several options are above the rest, such as Orisa, Kiriko, and Mercy. DPC players can choose from things like Sojourn, Solider: 76, and several other heroes that are really good right now. Of course, the fact that those heroes are good doesn’t mean that the rest won’t work. On the contrary, you can surprise your opponents, but it is probably better to focus on the best heroes in the patch.

If you haven’t played any of the hot heroes in the current patch or want to learn more about them, you should spend the time to go through everything. Although learning a new hero isn’t easy, once you play long enough, you will know what to expect. Moreover, you can use your guides because they will give you a good idea of what you can expect once yous start playing.

Chasing Kills is usually not a good idea

One of the problems that most Overwatch 2 players have had in the last couple of years is related to stats. For some reason, people assume that having good stats (KDA, Damage, Healing, etc.) will make them better players. However, this is not the case, and it can actually do more harm than good.

When it comes down to Overwatch 2 Season 3, one of the things we suggest is not focusing too much on kills. Sure, getting more kills is always a plus, but this shouldn’t be your number 1 priority, especially if you want to rank fast.

Landing a solo kill in Overwatch 2 is not as easy as in other shooters, such as CSGO. Sure, heroes like Widowmaker can kill supports and DPS with a single headshot, but every other hero needs to waste time on a kill. There are situations where this might be worth it, but in most cases, it isn’t.

Be patient

Even though the concept of being patient and climbing the Overwatch 2 leaderboard as fast as possible seems strange, this is one of the most important things you should focus on. Being patient can help you a lot in every aspect of life, and gaming is definitely not an exception.

Whether you’re picking up a new hero, playing on a new map, or experimenting with a new combo, you have to be patient and give it enough time to see if it works. Many people make the mistake of giving up too early, but this is usually not worth it. Of course, this doesn’t mean you should keep doing the same thing over and over when you don’t have any results, so think carefully about what you’re wasting your time on.

Try to learn from your mistakes

Overwatch 2 Season 3 -Skins

One of the best Overwatch 2 general tips for ranking (especially in Season 3) is to focus on your mistakes and learn from them. This can be applied in every skill bracket, but it is handy for people stuck in a specific rank.

If you’ve died in a situation where you should’ve stayed alive, think carefully about what you’ve done wrong and improve on it. Realizing your mistakes is easier said than done, but once you master this technique, you will improve a lot.

It is important to know that everyone makes mistakes, even the best Overwatch 2 players in the world. There is always something that can be done better, so don’t try to be perfect because this won’t be possible. Instead, pay attention to what you could’ve done more in the specific situation to make the most of it.

Queuing up with someone who’s good at the game

Since the focus of this article is how to win and climb as fast as possible, it shouldn’t be surprising that queuing with someone is a step in the right direction. Many people prefer queuing for a competitive match alone because they don’t want to play with any of their friends. Nevertheless, if you have someone who’s as motivated as you to reach the highest possible Overwatch 2 Season 3 rank, you should achieve much better results.

Having someone by your side that you can trust allows you to be way more effective. Besides picking heroes that work well together, you can communicate better. Furthermore, you can even lead your team because they will see that you’re motivated to win.

Before looking for someone to play with, it is worth knowing that once you queue up with multiple people, you will also play versus players in a group. This may not seem important, but there are situations where the enemies will be way more coordinated, so keep that in mind.
