Overwatch 2: The Best Ultimates in Season 3

It’s been a couple of weeks since the arrival of Overwatch 2 Season 3. Following some of the hero changes, the meta looks more interesting than ever before. We’ve already covered the Overwatch 2 heroes with the lowest pick rate, as well as those with the highest, so make sure to check which options to focus on.

Speaking of heroes, every name in Overwatch 2 has different abilities, including an ultimate. The latter is its strongest ability and the thing that can make a difference in a fight. As a result, people have to be careful when using it.

Some heroes and their ultimates received slight buffs in Season 3 because they cost fewer resources. Consequently, this makes them even more special because people can use them to win their games.

Even though we haven’t seen any big Overwatch 2 ultimate changes in the last few months, the arrival of Season 3 definitely had an impact on some of them. So, let’s learn more about which are the hottest ults in the game right now and how to make the most of them.

Ramattra’s Annihilation

Prior to the Overwatch 2 Season 3 changes, Ramattra’s ultimate was probably the best one in the game. This ability allows him to transform into his Nemesis form and do damage to all heroes nearby. Before the changes, every damage it dealt allowed it to keep the ult going, which meant that there was no cap in terms of its duration.

Needless to say, this ultimate was too good to be left like that, which is why Blizzard decided to change it. Following Season 3, Ramattra’s Annihilation can last up to 20 seconds, and it costs 12% more than before. However, even those nerfs aren’t enough because we think it is among the best ults in the game.

Ramattra’s damage output makes him incredibly strong, which explains why he’s among the top tanks. 

Sigma’s Gravitic Flux

The second ultimate that’s really good right now belongs to Sigma. Gravitix Flux allows him to do tons of damage and keep his enemies CCied long enough for his team to kill them. 

Unlike Ramattra’s ult, Sigma didn’t receive any changes to the ability in Season 3. However, the new patch increases the ult’s cost by 7%, meaning the hero will need more time to get it up and running.

Once that happens, Sigma has to try communicating with his team because he can easily kill at least a few heroes. The ability deals loads of damage on its own, but it’s even more effective when used in conjunction with other heroes.

Kiriko’s Kitsune Rush

The fact that Kiriko is one of the best Overwatch 2 heroes in the current patch means that she also has an amazing ultimate. Although it may seem like Kitsune Rush could be better, the ult provides tons of value. Consequently, we think it is one of the best in the game right now.

We expected Blizzard to nerf the ult in Overwatch 2 Season 3, but the company decided not to. As a result, once Kiriko uses it, she will summon Kitsune, which gives her and her team 30% MS, +50% rate of fire, +50%  reload speed, and much more.

This is definitely one of the best utility ultimates in the game, and it is one of the big reasons why this hero is so popular in the current patch.

Lucio’s Sound Barrier

As one of the top-tier Overwatch 2 support heroes in the last couple of years, Lucio has among the best ultimates in the game. Many inexperienced players don’t think that Sound Barrier is that strong, but those who know how to use it can win teamfights solely with it.

What’s interesting about Sound Barrier is that the ult received a small buff in Season 3. Even though its effect remained the same, it costs 7% less than before. Consequently, Lucio players will be able to use it even more often than before.

In terms of the ult itself, when used, it gives the hero and his allies 750 HP  that slowly decades over time. Needless to say, this is usually enough to save them or to win a team fight.

Genji’s Dragonblade

Although Genji is not the hottest hero in the meta right now, it’s safe to say that his ult is really good. People who know how to use the cyborg ninja can easily carry their team to victory, even if they don’t get a damage boost. However, once you combine Dragonblade with something like Ana’s ult, this hero becomes almost unstoppable.

As expected, Blizzard didn’t change anything to Genji’s ultimate in Overwatch 2 Season 3. Despite that, the hero remains one of the topics picks in the highest-rank bracket. He is definitely not the easiest hero to master, but once you learn how to do that, you will have no problems.

Echo's Duplicate

Another hero that most of you probably didn’t expect to see on the list is Echo. Despite the fact that her Duplicate received tons of nerfs after the arrival of Overwatch 2, it continues to be one of the best ultimates in the game. 

Duplicate allows Echo to transform into one of the enemy’s heroes and use all of his abilities.  As you can imagine, this can be game-breaking, especially when used correctly. 

Most Overwatch 2 players expected Echo to have a slight buff because she hasn’t been that popular lately, but this didn’t happen. Nevertheless, the hero’s ultimate remains one of the best in the game.

Sojourn’s Overclock

The last big ultimate in Overwatch 2 Season 3 that we think should be on the list belongs to Sojourn. This may not surprise some players because this has been the go-to DPS for some of the world’s best players. 

Sojourn’s ability to do damage and one-shot targets make her incredibly popular in the meta. Despite the numerous nerfs, she continues to be the preferred option and still has one of the best ultimates in the game.
