Overwatch 2 Season 4 Hero Reworks – What To Expect?

Even though the Overwatch 2 Season 3 mid-season patch became available just a couple of days ago, we already have some information about the upcoming Season 4. Speaking of the changes in the current season, you can learn more about how they affect some heroes and what you can do to make the most of them.

Despite the numerous changes in the last couple of months, some heroes in the game don’t feel as strong as they should. It seems like the Overwatch 2 devs realize it, which is why they’ve decided to give us some information about the potential changes.

There is still time before we learn about a future Overwatch 2 Season 4 hero, but we already know some insight regarding potential hero changes. So, let’s go over them, so you know what to expect. The information became available after an interview with Alec Dawson, who’s the lead hero designer in Overwatch 2.

Mercy

Mercy is one of the Overwatch 2 hero's who can provide the best support to team mates

Mercy was one of the heroes that received a lot of changes in Season 3. If we take a look at the Overwatch 2 supports Reddit, we can see that she’s among the most popular hero in the game right now. Her ability to heal low-HP targets and heal herself while doing it makes her incredibly strong in many situations.

With that said, it seems like we will have more changes to her in Season 4. According to Dawson, Mercy is really good right now and feels a bit too strong to play against. The hero’s healing output is insane, and dealing with her is easier said than done.

Before the changes, Mercy was all about her mobility and the fact that she worked really well with some heroes. Although this continues to be the case, the new healing output makes her a bit clunky to play.

Considering that the devs are looking at her, we wouldn’t be surprised if she gets a new ability or another major rework. Follow ESTNN for more information because we’ll be among the first to let you know more about her.

Mei

Mei one of the heroes recieving some changes in Overwatch 2

The second hero that we expect to change after the Overwatch 2 Season 4 patch notes is Mei. She was among the heroes that received a lot of changes in Overwatch 2, which should’ve made her more popular. However, this wasn’t the case because people weren’t interested in what she had to offer.

Following the latest information from Overwatch 2’s leading hero dev, Mei will have some buffs to her slow. In fact, the hero may no longer freeze targets but have the mechanic to slow them down, similar to how she was in Overwatch 1. The idea behind the slow debuff is to last much longer, so it will be interesting to see what the team will develop.

It will be interesting to see whether these changes will become available because they will make Mei much more popular. Having said that, the devs in OW 2 have to think of a way to implement the new mechanic without ruining the fun for others. Needless to say, having a lower movement speed in OW 2 is one of the worst feelings in the game.

Cassidy

The next Overwatch 2 Season 4 hero we’d like to talk about is Cassidy. Even though some people complained about the lack of a CC ability after the arrival of OW 2, Cassidy quickly became one of the strongest DPS in the game. He’s incredibly hot in Season 3, so we weren’t surprised that the devs are trying to figure out what to do to him for Season 4.

The big problem with Cassidy right now is his Magnetic Grenade. People who watch Overwatch 2 competitive gameplay or some of the best players in the world on Twitch will see that many of them complain about this ability. It is straightforward to use, the damage output is insane, and it has a low cooldown, allowing Cassidy to use it multiple times.

Some potential changes we might see in Overwatch 2 Season 4 are reduced range, less damage, or a complete ability rework.

Sombra

balance Overwatch hero Sombra holds a purple sphere of energy.

Sombra is an interesting hero that started as one of the best in Overwatch 2, but quickly sank to the bottom after the intense nerfs. We’ve seen a lot of complaints on the Overwatch 2 Twitter about her because she doesn’t feel as strong as she should. That’s probably one of the reasons why she has the chance to hack Orisa’s ultimate following the mid-Season 3 update.

The stats in Overwatch 2 reveal that Sombra is the worst DPS in the game right now. Consequently, we weren’t surprised when the lead dev said that the team was trying to improve her.

Some of the potential changes we might see are an ability rework that might tweak her permanent stealth and an ability to escape even faster when needed. The potential removal of perma stealth will allow the dev team to come up with new ideas about the hero and potentially increase her damage output.

We do not know much about the Overwatch 2 Season 4 date and when it becomes available, but we can’t wait to see the potential changes to Sombra. With that said, the Dev team needs to be careful because even the slightest buff can make the hero feel overpowered again.

Conclusion

An important thing to remember is that these are just some of the changes we expect to see in Overwatch 2 Season 4. Naturally, the devs will work on most other heroes as well, so we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. With that said, there is still time left to reach your desired rank in Season 3, so make sure to make the most of it.
